A daily dose of God’s touch in a minute…

There’s going to be ‘Me-Time’ on my to-do list this weekend, how about you?

Most of my weekdays and weekends are packed with routine.

Work, family, cooking, church, prayer, and the drill goes on, relentlessly, like clockwork.

Finding dedicated leisure time gets especially challenging when your focus is on things you feel are more important than taking time out for some fun.

Weeks can pass by without me creating time for something outside the usual regime.

‘Come and have breakfast’

I just love to read and meditate on those words of Jesus, in John chapter 21.

This is the narrative after His resurrection where Jesus appears to His disciples.

This was soon after they had an unsuccessful day at work, laboured hard but caught no fish.

Jesus presents a new strategy and when they follow His instruction, they see tremendous success.

As you read further, you learn that Jesus has already set up the fire, prepared bread and some fish for the disciples and yet He gives importance to their contribution by asking them to get some of the fish they have just caught.

Jesus then facilitates a time of feasting and helps the hard working disciples overcome an all-work-and-no-play mindset.

It is only after they enjoy a good breakfast and spend time in fellowship that Jesus begins to assign them their new purpose and tasks.

What a beautiful lesson on Work-Life balance.

Time for practical application.

No matter how busy things get, I am going to take time out for some fun.

Watch a movie, head out for some shopping, and check out some new clothes or go get a coffee at an open-air café maybe do some Christmas decorating.

The key is to indulge in doing something relaxing, something that makes me happy and helps break the monotony of routine.

So, yes, there’s Me-Time on my list this weekend.

What about you?

Please take a moment to share your thoughts in the comments.

Prayer:

Father God, today I pray that I learn to value myself, to recognize that my life and time is precious. Teach me how to set limits, how to draw work-Life balance while I focus on achieving fruitfulness and success. Help me to manage my time better.

Give me the grace to take some time out for myself, a time of relaxation, a time where I don’t worry, I don’t plan and I don’t exert but take time to be joyful and enjoy the things around me, and celebrate Life.

I ask and pray this In Jesus Name.

Amen.

Bible Passage:

A cheerful heart is good medicine,
but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.

Proverbs 17:22 (NIV)

I do think making time to do things that help us unwind and enjoy is important. I have learnt to take time and found that it is really crucial for how I feel for the rest of the week.

So true. In today’s fast paced world, things can so easily spiral out of control if we don’t pause to get some rest to recuperate. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and I wish you all the best in your week and month ahead. Will continue to look forward to your encouragement and will look forward to offer you the same.

Creating time aside for ourselves around our schedules is very important. In a very busy world, it is quite easy for us to neglect certain necessities. Time goes by so fast. We are already in the month of December. May God help us to prioritize all things. Your Christmas tree looks lovely 😊🥁. Have a wonderful weekend. God bless you and your family. Keep safe 🙏🏿
