Every culture follows and loves its own unique cuisine.
And I Love Mine.
A Daily Devotional Featuring a Bible Verse, Thought and Prayer
As exotic as it is, the process of Indian Cooking is elaborate as most of the recipes involve fresh blending of spices and so many other ingredients.
My mixer does a good job of grinding and blending the Masala for seasoning. Everyday!
But, in order to get it done I must push the ON button. I think of it as a way of politely requesting the machine, ‘Dear Mixer, I need your help. Would you please get the masala done for me’?
And it obliges.
Then there are times it refuses to start, and I know I need to investigate what is wrong. Once it gets fixed, it begins to work all over again.
It’s a process I must repeat each time I want to get the Masala spices blended.
This common activity which is an intrinsic part of my day to day living got me thinking.
When I need to cook a delicious meal, I go to the mixer.
How much more I need to go to the Lord and say – “Help me Lord I want to get some tasks accomplished today. Order my steps Lord, that I may not falter or waste time on things that will not add value to my life”.
So, I pray.
Prayer:
Dear God, I need your help, to get some things started and to get some things finished. Help me. Order my steps. I don’t want to waste my time and effort on things that will destroy my creative ability. Help me so that I can experience profit and not loss. Help me to meet the right people, get into the right career, the right job, get into right relationships, the right activities, the right projects that will bring out my best potential and bring peace and fruitfulness in my life. Help me so that I can do all things for your glory. Help me so that I may be able to please you.
In Jesus Mighty Name I pray.
Amen.
Bible Passage:
The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord,
And He delights in his way.
Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down;
For the Lord upholds him with His hand.
I have been young, and now am old;
Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken,
Nor his descendants begging bread.
Psalm 37 (NKJV)
I love the analogy. We so automatically turn to things to help us in our daily activities, yet fail to do so consistently with God.
Thank you for sharing this Sophia.

Awesome! So glad to read your comment. Would love to know more about beautiful Trinidad. I was born and raised on the sunny beaches of Goa and love anything to do with the sea. Would love to visit Trinidad someday and exchange some of my Goan delicacies with Trinidadian treats. Do we have room for one at your home?
