Paul and Silas were in prison. Jailed for something they didn’t deserve. Their crime? Preaching and teaching about Jesus. Interestingly, Paul and Silas did not grumble or murmur about the injustice or about their situation. They chose to give in to something contrary to the situation. A solution that is advocated for the Children of God in times of difficulty. I like to call it The Prison Shake– a concoction of powerful prayer, praise and singing.
I like to believe that their unrestrained, uninhibited, bold songs of praise must have sounded so powerful and melodious that it grabbed the attention of God Almighty sitting on the Throne who instantly ordered the release of a powerful prison shaker to barge into the Jail and shake up everything. It was a shaking like never before. The very foundation of the Prison shook, the restraining iron gates and doors opened and the metal bands that bound the inmates were automatically broken loose. From bondage to breakthrough. There was a sudden, unexpected freedom!
Afraid with the consequences, the Jailer wanted to kill himself.
But with Paul and Silas, high on the power shake, filled with the holy spirit, death and defeat had no place. They instantly fixed the Jailer’s problem. That’s the power of prayer, praise and singing worship songs to the Lord. So no matter what the challenge, doesn’t matter how hard the circumstances, fervent prayer and praises have and always will move heaven to intervene and move into your situation. Are you bound, in prison? Do the circumstances around you seem harsh, unjust? Get ready, stop worrying and go for a Prison Shake, it will certainly draw the attention of the Prison Shaker; the Most Faithful One, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Suddenly, He will shake the very foundations of anything that binds His children. The closed doors will open up, a way will be made for you to experience freedom and liberty.
And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.
And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed.
