A daily dose of God’s touch in a minute…
God created the Garden of Eden and on the seventh day He rested.
No new plants had yet grown. As long as there was no one to take care, streams came up and watered the garden. God had completed all the ground work but there had to be someone to work on the successful system that God had put into place.
So God took dust, formed a man, breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and made his special creation, Adam, to take over the garden.
He was proud of his child. His creation. He gave Adam the authority to name every creature that the Lord created. God proved to be a loving, caring Father as he closely watched his son tend the garden and saw that Adam was alone. And God said it is not good for a man to be alone. To me, it seems that God was interested in ensuring that man was happy and that’s why he wanted him to have a partner; a help meet, someone to be with him and help him through the journey of life.
But, Adam could not find a suitable partner in the creatures that were already created by God, so God put the man to sleep and out of his rib made Eve. The woman was made out of man; and that’s why a man leaves his parents and unites with his wife.
The Garden of Eden had everything that Adam and Eve would ever need to lead a happy life. God had given them access to the entire expanse of the beautiful garden. The only access he denied was to just one thing; a tree in the middle of the garden. God alone knows why certain restrictions work for our own good and so He commanded the couple to stay away from that one thing.
Adam and Eve were a uniquely created-for- each-other couple. They were naked, but didn’t feel ashamed because there was purity, innocence and no malice in them. They had a clean heart, an upright spirit and an unpolluted mind. That’s why God Himself was frequently visiting their house, oops, I mean the garden.
(Wives, you’re special. Smile and yes, keep your husband happy. Be proud that you are custom made by God for your husband. And when things don’t seem to be going good, remind yourself what God said ‘it is good’. Young women, desiring to marry, giggle! Your turn for “it is good” is just round the corner)
The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”
Genesis 2: 18 (NIV)
Application: God made man and later out of the man He made a woman and trusted her role so much in his life and family that the Lord called her the man’s help-meet; the one who would stand by him in good times and bad.
