A daily dose of God’s touch in a minute…

“Today is an amazing Day”

The woman said, “I know that Messiah” (called Christ) “is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.”
Then Jesus declared, “I, the one speaking to you—I am he.”
John 4:25-26 (New International Version)

It was one of those amazing days. Heaven’s champion had once again decided to touch earth. Jesus, the Messiah was in the mood to sort out another person’s mess. He knew this person was in trouble and he knew only he could help. Challengingly, the person in a mess was a Samaritan woman.

Ignoring the ethnic, religious and traditional barriers that bridged Jews and Samaritans Jesus made it a point to stop over and help the Samaritan woman who, mind you, he was not otherwise supposed to help.

No wonder the disciples were shocked to see him talking to a Samaritan woman.
But the Messiah was there to help not to judge.

Did she ever go to church? Did she have any idea how many people she offended with her deeds? Was she even guilty or regretful? None of those questions were on his mind.

The woman had been through the toughness of enduring five marriages and now she was caught up in the 6th living in relationship with a man not her husband which was illegitimate.

Just imagine the kind of mess the five marriages had got her into. Translated in today’s time you don’t need to get into five marriages to get into a mess. There are enough little things that have the capacity to mess up lives in today’s generation.

But then, It was a day when the unmerited love of Jesus was going to supersede all ; there would be no finger pointing, no accusations, no maintaining an account of deeds, no judging based on caste, creed or colour.

It was a day when He was out to demonstrate life with a greater purpose and calling. No wonder He refused to stick to a clichéd schedule of life; breakfast, lunch, dinner, he was not even interested in the food the disciples brought, after all he was not here to demonstrate life’s usual routines. He came with a much higher calling.

Love and grace from the Messiah was just what she needed to get out of her mess; Through one simple conversation, she received deliverance and learnt the secret formula for better living; The fresh flow of living waters offered to her by Jesus.
Today seems like one of those amazing days!

A day to get your focus away from the mess, take a step of faith. Wade into the living waters and let the love of the saviour supersede it all to make your life complete.

Living water, the one that makes you thirst no more. Notice that the Samaritan woman immediately evangelised Jesus message. This history teaches us so many things, from avoiding discrimination to how unbelievers actually take the message. They respect it more. Beautiful narrative by the way.
