A daily dose of God’s touch in a minute…
“He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
Revelation 21: 5 New International Version (©1984)
Everything new thrills me. New clothes, new shoes, new holiday places, Anything.
I know it’s absolutely human and for sure God definitely knows the human system much better than we do.
One possible reason why the Bible talks of new things is to get our attention towards God’s way of working things out where He often goes about creating something new. Like new people to take charge (Joshua taking on the mantle from Moses), new opportunities (Peter), new wine (wedding of cana), new oil (widow of zarepath) and so many more.
Such a God will most certainly not be impressed to watch His people harping on the past; Troubles, possessions, relationships and stuff like that which once made them happy or caused sadness.
God would rather prefer saying ‘Hey people, leave the past in the past. Allow me to create something new for you, let go of the former stuff, together we can get some great new stuff going, let go of the old habits, time to cultivate some new ones. Lost a job? c’mon let’s get you a new job. Last relationship gone wrong? Let’s work on infusing some life into it and making it fresh and new.’
God’s strategies more often, lead to a better result.
God is the same, yesterday, today and forever. He changes Not. It is this same God who offers the strategy of ‘the new’ to today’s challenges as well.
Probably He understands how thrilled we are with new stuff and loves to watch us get into a mindset that is open to newness and that’s why He goes to great lengths by declaring the creation of a new heaven and a new earth; what a God!
He is always looking to do something new in the lives of His children, Sometimes hard to digest with our finite thinking, but be still and know that He is God and you will begin to see the strategy at work.
One challenge is to see through all the clutter.
It certainly is difficult to experience the joys and the thrills of something new when we are overly consumed with things of the past. But if we are able to surrender the former things; past pain, hurts, grudges, loss, bad habits, mistakes, troubles, regrets, hardships etc , how much more space we can create for Him to work out His will to bring about something new.
For God to create new stuff, all He needs is a clear mind and the more we de-clutter our mind, the more He is able to infuse something new into our life to allow us experience new thrills and new joys in life.
